"My stage 4 diagnosis was due to Mets in my lung. I did do chemotherapy and also radiation, the radiation was actually more for the breast and lymph nodes but it did also get some of my lung so on my left side I do have pleural effusion and fibrosis. The radiation did a number on me, personally it's been the hardest to overcome, the skin tissue on my left side is always tight, like a sprained muscle all along my chest. Some days if I move in a certain way it actually cramps like a Charlie horse in my chest and in my back it wraps around and it feels like I can't breathe, these spasms happen all the time and at random times. I am a firm believer in mind, body, soul wellness and I am so grateful to have found friends/massage therapist that have helped me get some of this tissue tightness out. Christine Baade has been a miracle worker, her extensive training and therapies have helped more than I could ever say. The scarring left on my lung really messes with my asthma, a tiny cold turns into immediate distress with afib and er visits. I cannot stress the importance of self exams. It won't prevent breast cancer from happening but it will help you advocate for yourself, the second you notice change is when you act."
